One of my favorite pieces of art I own is a simple canvas with the words… WITHOUT MUSIC LIFE WOULD BE A MISTAKE…
Stop and think for a moment a song you listened to recently that triggered an emotion…a noise you heard that reminded you of a moment…a sound that passed you by which caused an emotion to surface. Music. It is around us daily. You don’t have to be a musician, to have played an instrument, or to surround yourself with music intentionally to understand the impact is has in our lives.
I mark milestones in my life with music…which are intertwined with adventures and experiences…but like a smell…music is what brings me back to that moment.
To that smile…
To that tear…
To that laugh…
To that voice…
To that anger…
To that nervous excitement…
To that skip of a heartbeat or calm breath…
To that moment…
I lean on music to feel. I lean on music to provide calm. I lean on music to remind me why it’s good to expand one’s lens. I lean on music because it is a constant in my life that has always been there.
It runs through my veins…music is a part of my ‘personal fabric’ that I have shared with very few…yet in all I do, I ensure there is a sense of passionate music always playing…and therefore indirectly share it with everyone, everyday…
So to circle back to the words that are etched on the canvas I look at each morning when I wake up…YES…Without music, without the feels of life, it would all be a mistake. Or said differently, we wouldn’t be truly living…and isn’t that what it is all about?
