9.1

Posted by meggles83

It is a day filled with intent. With purpose. A date from the onset that was chosen for a reason. And it is a day that for the rest of my life will be one that is both another day and also once that will stop and remind me that intent is a force we should bring to all we do.

From the fact it was originally on a Sunday and a long weekend…to it was close to other important dates so you could never forget it…to it was simple…to Fall is the most beautiful in Colorado. The choice of date was intentional.

Masks from Italy. Black lace dresses. Each bouquet was different laced with colors of the chakras. My shoes (made by me). Individual thank you cards for each guest. Handwritten signs. Wine choices. Cheese tower instead of a cake. Chocolate malts. Family style dinner. Bowling socks. The first dances. Music designed as if it was a show we were putting on for hundreds to see. Intent encompassed every detail.

Each year to celebrate was filled with intent. First year was a “run” up a mountain in Los Angeles. Second year was 4 14ers. Year 3 was a hike with Stella. The fourth year we did Maroon Pass – over the mountain and back in two days, with Stella. Year 5 was a trip to San Diego. On the 6th year we had twins and we shared a night out, eating sushi, walking around Denver. The intent was always there…more pronounced and planned in the earlier years.

This year 9.1 became a permanent fixture on my body. Alongside the “S” and Southern Cross from my time in Australia and Sarah’s passing. There was intent in where it was placed and why I wanted it to be permanent.

Change is the only constant in life…and while 9.1 will always be a day every year, to me it is a day that will remind me that intent creates purpose, drives growth, and makes magic. When you are intentional life doesn’t just happen to you. Being intentional means what happens you had a choice in. You made a decision in, you created the path.

Every moment has the ability to change us…be intentional on how you show up, react, and engage. You never know…that mark of intent might just become a permanent fixture in your life…even with each passing year of change.

9.1 is that for me. Permanent, ever changing, and a day of pure intention.
